Protection

There’s a fragile mask on my face
Tears behind the laughter
Sadness in the back of my smile
My love for you for each frown
I’ve only known you for a while
A while however, felt like a lifetime
I want to avoid you
Stay away and rebuild my walls
But this protection is thin
It broke down the moment you say it will.

Beautiful express dear Jess! It happens sometimes to just meet someone but feel like we known each other for a lifetime!

Yes. The same as there are people who we are with for a lifetime yet still feels like a stranger.

Heart felt written poetry here, Jessica.
Beautiful and poignant.
Ah, the masks we all wear to keep people out.
It’s often harder to remove than a well shot arrow from Robin Hood at a tree in Sherwood Forest.

I always appreciate your words, so true… and hit straight to the mark.
