Walking Through Time: How Beniardá Inspired My Time Travel Romance
As an author, inspiration can come from the most unexpected places. For me, the quiet beauty and timeless charm of a small village nestled in the mountains of Spain—Beniardá—became the perfect muse for my upcoming time travel romance novel. 🌿✨
Today I posted a YouTube video, walking through the street of Beniardá at dawn to capture the sunrise, I jinxed the first take, but I got a better shot the second time haha.
Beniardá is than meets the eye. It’s a place where history is deeply embedded in every stone, where time feels fluid—making it the ideal setting for a small-town romance that crosses the boundaries of time.
“In Another Time” was my very first time travel romance idea, way back to 2006. As I’ve often mentioned, I never took any notes or wrote anything down about the story—actually, I thought I’d never write it. But that all changed after visiting Beniardá in 2016. Living there in 2018, and then moving away in 2019, sparked something in me. The inspiration I found in the village brought my this story idea back to life. In 2019, I finally wrote the story, and that same year, I made the decision to debut as Jessie Winterspring.

I hope my video gives you a sense of the magic I felt walking through Beniardá—the same magic that inspired my novel.

Also, don’t forget to mark your calendars for October 17 when my time travel romance novel comes out. I can’t wait to share the full story with you!
What if the future is predetermined and nothing you do can change it?
All he wanted was to go back to the future, but that also meant living in a world without her.
Leonardo
My world turned upside down when I broke a bottle containing a wish. I’m an easy-going person, and I hate anything brainy, but the damn bottle made me travel back in time, back to 1956 when Abuela was only nineteen. Younger than me!
I might need to use my brain to figure out how to get back to 2020, preferably before I alter my grandparents’ history. Befriending them isn’t part of the plan, and falling for Celestina, my abuela‘s future best friend, is definitely not supposed to happen.
Celestina
All Celestina wanted was her mother’s love, but because she’s a product of rape, she learned to accept that her dream would never come true. However, when Leonardo materialized out of her bottle in front of her, she thought that if magic was possible, her wishes may not be out of reach.
