The Here and Now

“It’s easier to be a leader than being in charge. ”

nice!

There are rules.
Never reveal where you’re from. Never be intimate with anyone outside the community. And never interfere with history.

This beautiful cover and the blurb hooked me the moment I laid my eyes on it. Much like Ethan falling head over heels for Prenna from the first second he saw her completely naked in front of him.

This might sound wrong but I love how annoying the characters are in this book. I like the eerie feel and tears up at the sad fate of the time travelers.

What disturbed me, however, was the reason they travel back in time. It doesn’t make much sense to me. I know how dangerous the mosquito brings. My family, aside from me and my mother, suffered from it. My father and younger brother were bedridden with malaria. My brother died because of it. Then my younger sister also caught dengue.

It a terrible feeling to see them suffer but even in our time, we can save them. I agree with one of the reviewers from Taiwan in Goodreads. If they have so high technology they could travel back in time, how can they not find a way to stop a virus? This has been bugging me while reading the book, but I read it all the way to the end, because even if I don’t like insta-love, I love how Ethan show his feelings for Prenna.

The end did not make me sad, but it made me think that I wish I’ve known about it before reading the book because seriously, is it really hard to test themselves for any potential virus before deciding not to be with time natives?
