I love Asian dramas but not so much Chinese. I used to lean more toward Korean videos because their acting is great. But the past two years I’ve been feeling a bit…
… because when face surgery being the norm (and even recommended by the entertainment industry -from what I heard), no matter how good they act I get confused about who is who because most the women look the same, and the men too. They have to stand or face each other on the screen for me to see the slight differences.
Racist sensitive folk. Stay away. I’m not being racist here, I’m an Asian too okay and I love my tan skin 😄
Anyway…
I watched Suddenly Seventeen because of its title, and I’m pleasantly surprised that it’s not a remake of the movie 17 again starred by Matthew Perry & Zac Efron.
What’s more, is that 17 again Chinese Edition was great to watch. I love every minute of it. It kept me on the edge of my seat from the first minute. I adored 17-year-old Liang as much I dislike the 28-year-old her. Her love story with Yan really got me. Super romantic. Sure Mao had his time when they were younger but I hated the way he treated her 10 years later, and personally running around naked doesn’t make up for it.
I want to say so much more, but I’m afraid that I’ll spoil the movie for those who wanted to watch it. But I have to say that Yan is still the best and 17-year-old Liang Xia should be with him.
Tsk. It could have been my favorite film if it weren’t for that ending. Tsk.
Blurb
28-year-old Liang Xia is unhappy in love. She had given up her dreams of becoming a painter just to stay with Mao, her boyfriend for 10 years, and live-in partner for 5 years. Her friend suggests to Liang that she should force Mao to marry her on her wedding day by proposing to him in public. However, this backfires and Mao ends up breaking up with Liang. As Liang follows Mao to beg him to stay with her she eats some magical chocolates that she had bought earlier through an advertisement on television. These chocolates turn Liang into a 17-year-old in a 28-year-old’s body for exactly 5 hours every time she consumes the chocolate, creating conflict and drama.

I haven’t watched the movie but I love how you used your guilt free race card 😘😊😆 Mine is over punched and soon to be in shreds😋🤔🙊🙈 I despise people who surgically alter themselves with an aim of relating to what’s considered beautiful in the Western World. It’s a shame 😔 😡

Good afternoon, i’m use to watch dramas when i was younger now i barely have time to watch tv, but i can understand what you mean by saying, that they all look same, you look beautiful your tan skin, i could never understand how someone can be a racist❤️I love romantics love stories, maybe i will give a shot one day as well, i was watching manga and anime before and i really liked it, but now is time to give a shot for asian dramas thought, have a wonderful weekend❤️

I never really paid attention to manga and anime until I was 19. Now I’m still love reading and watching them. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to recommend any Asian dramas to you because it’s been so long since I saw one. Oh, one just come up haha 😀 The first ever drama that hooked me is the Taiwanese drama Meteor Garden. This series is base on a manga called Hana Yori Dango (also a series with the same name like it too) I recommend you to watch the 2001 version of Meteor Garden. The guys are more simple and manly (in my opinion) and better to act. Also easier to tell them apart.

Firstly let me say that it’s a worldwide problem, this plastic surgeries and facial expressions! We always discuss this and laugh, is she smiling for fuck sake? crying? angry? her face is the same :/ oh yes happening on daily basis! I so respect those actors or actresses that show up natural despite the movie make up but you can still check their expressions, wrinkles…they are natural!! I don’t know if they are many :/
I watched 17 again starred by Matthew Perry & Zac Efron and as a light romantic comedy, I loved it to be honest, not a heavy movie, but I love both Zac Efron and Leslie Mann! She made me laugh like crazy in the movie “The Other Woman” not a fan of Mathew Perry even though I love Friends series, just couldn’t love him.
here we’re not familiar with Chinese and Asian series, mostly Turkish, Mexican, dubbed to Arabic of course, I prefer American and European but nowadays I watch nothing, I have the series Suits, my friend bought me all the seasons to watch it and couldn’t find time since I started blogging 🙂 So the answer I don’t thick I’ll watch the Chinese version 🙂

Haha no worries. As I mention I didn’t like the ending. And I’m sure if you did you’ll be annoyed with the girl’s choice in the end.
I also love 17 again and like you, I did not feel that impress with Mathew Perry but I had a good laugh. Now that you mention another I definitely have to check that out.
And when it comes to surgery… I completely agree. After so many changes in the face, the skin isn’t showing the natural expression anymore and like you, I applaud any artist who proudly let age show on their faces.

I love natural people so much! I don’t mind doing some things to stay healthy and beautiful but there are limits

If you try to improve yourself to look better without going under the knife, I don’t think anyone should anything about it. Actually, face surgery is alright too if it’s necessary, but otherwise natural is better.

That’s a great description and review! I was always into Korean dramas but then I stopped watching it because it consumed too much time. I know the actors and actresses look similar.😂😂

Yes, dramas, in general, are time-consuming! You need to limit yourself a lot and stick to it even though you’re itching to watch the next episode because the damn thing always end in a cliffhanger 😂

It’s good actually, just betrayed my expectation of the ending haha 😀 but this is a Chinese movie so I’m not really hundred percent sure how operated they are. It’s easy to tell the characters apart in most Chinese videos.
