Classic Movies
This post has been pending for too long, so it’s time to do something about it.
My husband has influenced me so much when it come black and white films.
There’s only a handful of black and white video I’ve seen in my life. Among them is Charlie Chaplin and the first episodes of the original Star Trek series and the first Time Machine movie.
Thanks to Christopher, a blogger whom I’ve never expected to feel like a close friend when I first followed him, I ended up watching Waterloo Bridge 1940.
This sweet but tragic love story is touching and well, sad… I can’t even call it bittersweet. My heart was being rip to pieces as watch their love end. If only I know beforehand… god why did she have to do that to herself? Is it really hard to understand that a man can love you no matter what? 😭
Love old movies with a heartbreaking ending? Try watching this.

I have never seen this movie, but I like the old classic black and white movies and have a large collection of them. But sad endings are not really for me!😕

Not really for either, Steve. Sadly, when I start watching a movie, I got to see the end as long as it isn’t horrible.

Yep, I’m that way too, but if it’s a sad ending, I won’t watch it again!😁

Same!

Thank you for sharing this!! I haven’t seen this one. I also enjoy classic movies. TMC is one of my favorite channels! My husband was the one that introduced me to my love for them too!! 🙌👏

I’m glad I introduce something “new” 😀
Although I don’t think I’ll be watching again. I hate heartbreaking endings.

There are a few exceptions, but I generally don’t either. I want to know what happens in this movie now though. I’ll make sure I have plenty of tissues, wine, and ice cream for comfort! 😆
Jessica E. Larsen
Cheers for the ice cream! haha 😀
Jim Borden
I’ve never heard of this film, but you make it sound quite appealing!
Jessica E. Larsen
Oh my god, you want to cry? Go ahead, just don’t return to me and say you feel sad because I will tell you I told you 😂
Jim Borden
I cry at most movies anyway…
Jessica E. Larsen
Aw you’re a softie! I like you so much already 😁
Jim Borden
aw…

Reading your lament about the ending makes me sad already. I try to save myself from turbulent emotions, but I may give this film a try!! 🙂
Jessica E. Larsen
Thanks for reading Ramyani. This movie brought turbulent feelings with it. Sad endings is not for everyone, not for me, but the story just pulled me in.

Same here. I know I am kinda sensitive, so I try to defend😅
Dracul Van Helsing
I love your review of the 1940 version of Waterloo Bridge, Jessica.
My favourite film of all time.
Well that and Casablanca.
I see the film moved you.
It is a sad tale.
But a great one.
Jessica E. Larsen
Yes, it moved me alright. I feel sad just remembering. But as you said. A great tale 🙂
I’ve seen the Casablanca too some years ago, I remember liking it but I don’t remember so much of the plot now…
Dracul Van Helsing
It seems like a very timely movie today.
The story was set right at the start of the Second World War when it seemed the whole world was falling apart.
And now with the Covid-19 pandemic, it feels like the whole world is falling apart again.

That’s exactly it. As I told a good friend earlier today, I feel I just stepped inside a dystopian book. 😞
